According to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, the asking price to acquire Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko maybe a controllable young top six forward.

Rumors have been swirling around the Vancouver Canucks organization that Demko may be on his way out and onto a new organization which links the Edmonton Oilers.

Oilersnation Everyday podcasters are in favour of Demko

Several Oilers pundits including the Oilers nation everyday podcasters Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin feel that they would be willing to bring in Demko into the organization as the team likely is beginning a search for a new goaltender.
This position has been widely debated over the past several months as many felt that the team needed an upgrade in net prior to the beginning of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Rumors had John Gibson of the Anaheim Ducks willing to waive his no trade clause and head to oil country to help the team win a Stanley Cup.
That trade never occurred and the team stood pat with Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard. Adding a player like Demko when he's healthy would be the goaltender the Oilers need but there's a caveat to that.
Demko has been played with long term injuries over the past couple of years where he has missed significant time with the Canucks so much, so they had to sign Kevin Lankinen to a contract extension, so the team has a serviceable goalie to work with.

Many pundits are cold on the idea of Demko to the Oilers

Despite Demko's abilities as a goaltender when healthy, many pundits feel that he may be too much of A risk as he has been slated as a goaltender that needs to play through his physical ailment and get used to it.
Demko has one year remaining in his contract that holds a cap hit of $5 million he then becomes an unrestricted free agent in 2026 where many teams will be curious to see where he goes.
This past season, he played 23 games holding a record of 10-8-3 with a goal against of 2.90 and a save percentage of .889 with 1 shutout.
With the goalie market razor thin and the Oilers in need of a goalie, it remains to be seen on how the Oilers will approach this and whether Demko maybe the answer they're looking for.
