McDavid and Draisaitl have moment of frustration after Oilers blown lead
Edmonton Oilers superstars Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid both shared a moment on the bench after the Oilers crumbled in the third period and saw the Dallas Stars win the game 6-3.
Both players were sitting on their bench in utter disbelief and shock as their faces had shown while they took in the mess.
Oilers had full control in Game 1 till the third period
The Oilers had been running on adrenaline and joy as they knocked out the Vegas Golden Knights in five games with back-to-back shutouts from
Stuart Skinner.
Everything began to unravel in the third period after the Oilers owed the Stars for 40 minutes and appeared in total control.
The Oilers had taken three penalties in a row which led the Stars to score three power play goals.
Last year in the playoffs against the Oilers, the Stars power play was anemic and failed to score during the series, this year it appears to be different, and the Oilers saw the Stars power play ignite and completely turned the game on its head.
In the end the Oilers walked away without a win after being up 3-1 in the game and left the ice scratching their heads wondering what happened and why they lost.
Oilers will need to learn quickly and find their penalty kill
Despite the setback, the Oilers can get right back in this series and split before they head back to Edmonton.
McDavid spoke to the media earlier today and explained that the team needs to be better with a 60-minute effort and re discover their penalty kill as three power play goals by the stars simply isn't good enough.
This Dallas team is as deep as the Oilers are, and the organization will need to dig in deeper especially defensively and not give the Stars any room especially around the net.
Game 2 will take place on Friday May 23rd and game time will be at 8:00 PM eastern.
