The Los Angeles Kings will finally see Corey Perry in the lineup tonight after suffering a major injury in the preseason.

According to reporters early this year, Perry suffered a fluke injury in practice and needed to be taken out of the rink in a wheelchair. It was a brutal start to the year for the 40 year old, but now his season will really begin.

Los Angeles Kings clear Corey Perry to return to lineup for the first time

The Kings announced today that Perry has been officially activated from IR, and will play tonight's game against the St. Louis Blues.
Perry will be beginning his Kings' tenure on the fourth line right wing, and also being moved up to powerplay minutes.
It's hard to believe based off his pest reputation, but the Edmonton Oilers will truly miss Corey Perry on their roster this season.
The veteran was able to move up and down the lineup and contribute meaningfully in any role. His skill was still enough to pot 19 goals with the Oilers last year, and he still had the presence to stand up for his teammates and be a leader in the locker room.
Perry even elevated his game to score 10 goals in 22 playoff games last year. It was shocking to see him leave the Oilers knocking in the door of a Stanley Cup, but Edmonton simply couldn't match LA's $4M offer.
The Oilers and Kings will meet next in Edmonton on January 10th, which should be a charged affair between the rival teams and the return of Corey Perry.
