The Los Angeles Kings have confirmed that their star player Quinton Byfield sustained an injury and will not play against the Seattle Kraken.

He sustained an upper body injury during their game against the Oilers and did not return. The team has not confirmed exactly what had happened.

Injuries hitting both teams as playoffs near

Both the Oilers and the Kings have sustained injuries over the past couple of weeks especially the Oilers which has crippled the lineup and has caused lineup problems over the last few games.
Prior to the game against the kings, head coach Kris Knoblauch gave an update on the status of several players and how long they may remain out.
«Hyman is not playing tonight. McDavid is not playing tonight,» Knoblauch said. «That's precautionary. We feel that we have too much to lose there. So we're playing that extremely safely.» Kris Knoblauch

Knoblauch does feel confident, but the team will recover many of their players especially their stars who have been out of the lineup and gave a hint that they are ready to return sooner than later.
«The fact that we have a lot of guys who were anticipating to come back and start the playoffs - the McDavids, Draisaitls, Hymans.

You know, those guys are pretty important,» Knoblauch said. «I wouldn't be as confident or looking forward to it as much as I am, if those guys weren't in the position they are.» Kris Knoblauch

Uncertainly continues to swirl around the Oilers dressing room

The biggest injury by far is defenseman Mattias Ekholm who has now been ruled out for the first round of the playoffs. Jake Walman remains day-to-day, and Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman were kept out which had the Oilers lose 5-0.
Other players who have sustained minor injuries are including Troy Stecher, Trent Frederic and Leon Draisaitl who will remain out until Game One of the playoffs.
Having the injury bug hit at the wrong time certainly has put some uncertainty in the Oilers chances of going deep into the playoffs.
The team's depth will be tested as there is less than one week remaining until the playoffs begin.
The Kings only have three players out in their roster including by field, Joel Edmundson who has an upper body injury and Tanner Jeannot.
The Oilers have one game remaining in the season against the San Jose Sharks which will take place on Thursday April 16th at 10:30 PM eastern.
