Insider Hints Bold Oilers Roster Move Could Be Imminent
The Edmonton Oilers are getting back into their groove as a Stanley Cup contender, but additions are still needed to boost the team, and Insider Bob Stauffer believes some internal options will soon be called up.
The Oilers have some trade needs for a defenceman, bottom six forward, and potentially a third goaltender.
On the most recent edition of OilersNow, insider Bob Stauffer said General Manager Stan Bowman will pursue a forward and defenceman in trade, as well as hinting towards a more immediate move with an AHL recall.
The Oilers have plenty of option to pick from with the Bakersfield Condors that could give them a meaningful look before the trade deadline, so Bowman knows what he needs to acquire.
Oilers Roster Move for Pre-Trade Deadline Evaluations May Happen Soon
Top prospect
Matthew Savoie is seeing a surge in play causing many prospect experts to suggest a call up may be coming soon. If the Oilers want to add more scoring talent, particularly in the case of
Jeff Skinner heading out, Savoie could be an elite option.
Whether the Oilers call up Savoie, Rodrigue, or Philp, it will be a bold move. It's a turn to youth instead of veterans, and will come with a corresponding move of placing a regular on waivers.
Stan Bowman should be making a decision of this sort to get a full picture of his team before the trade deadline, and it seems that time may be coming soon.
