Zach Hyman stood up in the Oilers room and passionately guaranteed they'd be back to win it next year. They got all the way back to fell just short, but this time there was no rallying cry.
The core Oilers players have now been around for two extended seasons, without the payoff of a win. The 4 Nations Faceoff and Olympics add to the grind of a year both mentally and physically.
Now up against another 82 game season and a months long campaign into the postseason, the Oilers group is facing an unimaginable task to win the Cup now.
