Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch revealed he is a little anxious about the return of newly acquired Oilers forward Trent Frederic who has been off due to injury since his trade from the Bruins.

Frederic has been off since February 25th after suffering a high ankle sprain which has been lingering and preventing him from joining his teammates down the stretch.

Knoblauch looking for time to spend with Frederic

Knoblauch hopes to see him in an Oilers uniform sooner rather than later as he has had some time off and may take some time to get back up and in sync especially with a new team.
All the while, coach Kris Knoblauch, who admits to being anxious to see the player, would like to know where the aggressive Frederic fits best.

KNOBLAUCH: I'd like to have some time with him, but you play the cards you're dealt, The playoffs are coming up quickly. We know what kind of player he is, but like with any player who's had time off, it's going to take him a while to find his game and build it up with repetitions in practice and in games. - Kris Knoblauch

The Oilers are currently without several of their top players as they are recovering from injury that they suffered on Saturday.
«I'd love to have him in the lineup right now. What do we have left, three weeks or so? I'd like to have some time with him, but you play the cards you're dealt,» said Knoblauch.

Frederic when healthy will give Oilers physical play

The former Boston Bruin who was drafted by the team in 2016, first round 29th pick overall has had a down year with the Bruins as the team has begun to falter.
He had played 57 games for the Bruins this season, scoring eight goals with seven assists for 15 points and was a - 14 with 44 penalty minutes. That's a stark difference compared to last year where he played all 82 games and scored 18
goals and 40 points and was a + 9.
Standing at six foot three and 221 lbs, Frederic will certainly give the Oilers the physical play they need and the size to help shut down other teams top lines.
During his time with the Bruins, he was quite effective in this role and a role that general manager Stan Bowman was looking to upgrade.
As the timeline drags on, the Oilers will be at home for their next game against the Dallas Stars and pop drop will take place at 10:00 PM eastern on March 26th.
