Leon Draisaitl's Team Germany linemate Frederick Tiffels may just have earned himself a NHL tryout, if not an actual contract.
Team Germany players getting NHL look
Draisaitl makes his linemates better, and traditionally those wingers make shy money. He currently runs with Vasily Podkolzin and Kasperi Kapanen, who between them have $2.3 million of cap next to their names.
Does anyone seriously believe that Samanski-Draisaitl-Kapanen would deliver subpar results in the NHL? If the coaching staff moved Podkolzin to the McDavid line, and Nuge to 3C, could that work?

Alan Mitchell make some interesting, if not obvious proposals in his above quote. Except, the Oilers currently don't have the personnel to implement the changes.
Unless they think outsider the box.
Next to the obvious top-NHLers on Team Germany, Frederik Tiffel has been perhaps the most surprising in terms contribution to the team's performances.
Alongside his childhood friend Leon Draisaitl, Tiffel has been been a key player. He's recorded 1G and 1A through four games, helping Germany advance to a quarterfinal matchup against Slovakia.
The 30-year old has been an offensive star in the DEL, playing with the Berlin Polar Bears over the last three years. Over 44 games this year, he's recorded 43 points and a plus-12.
Currently, the Edmonton Oilers struggle to dress a competent group of bottom-six forwards, relying heavily on their top-two lines for offensive production.
It's no secret that GM Stan Bowman will be looking to add players to bolster the bottom part of its roster, perhaps at the NHL trade-deadline, but definitely at the upcoming offseason.
Tiffel has shown that he can play with Draisaitl and is likely now auditioning for one of the bottom-six spots. Rest assured that NHL scouts are watching these games.
Originally a 2015 sixth-round pick by the Pittsburgh Penguins, Tiffel has played his entire professional career in the DEL.
The German national team, led by NHL stars like Draisaitl and Tim Stützle, next faces Slovakia in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
Frederik Tiffel will no doubt be under the spotlight.
