Corey Perry and Connor McDavid make an incredible personal gesture at Oilers practice
Coming off a tough overtime loss against the Boston Bruins last night, the Oilers were back on the ice this morning for practice. As a new veteran on the team, Perry may have been looking to lighten the mood of the team after the loss by bringing out his young son Griffin out on the ice.
Corey and Griffin were seen on the ice near the end of today's practice skating and stick-handling with Connor McDavid. Apparently, Griffin Perry is showing some incredible promise as a player as he got the best of McDavid. Of course, there's no way McDavid took it easy on the kid. Overall, it was a great and welcome sight to see at practice after a tough loss.
Perhaps the one decision of consequence coming out of Oilers practice today is coach Knoblauch's decision to turn to Calvin Pickard for the start against Minnesota tomorrow night. Stuart Skinner has clearly begun to falter in recent games, and is on pace to soar past the most games played in one season in his hockey career. Starting Pickard can be a decent enough test of the Oilers goalie depth, and give Skinner an opportunity to rest and recover.
The Oilers will look to get back in the win column tomorrow night as they host the Minnesota Wild.
