Connor McDavid personally goes after Dylan Holloway in Oilers vs Blues game
When
Mattias Ekholm was given a questionable penalty for interference, a scrum ensued that saw McDavid and Holloway get tangled up. Holloway tried to say something to him, but McDavid turned away almost wincing.
Oilers fans online noted McDavid's reaction as odd, saying that he looked disgusted. Earlier this season when the Blues visited Edmonton, McDavid singled out Holloway in a scrum and gave him a shove that looked a little personal between former teammates.
The Oilers obviously didn't want to lose Holloway to an offer sheet, being an important young player who was important to their present and future success. Of course the captain would be upset with Holloway's decision to leave.
McDavid got the ultimate strike back when he dangled through both Broberg and Holloway to score a beautiful overtime goal. That will be a highlight that haunts the pair of former Oilers for their whole careers.
Holloway has taken another step this season, now up to 16 goals and 39 points in 54 games - all career highs. Still just 23 years old, he's emerging as a quality two way player with the ability to score.
It stings more that Holloway is out scoring two top six forwards who were brought in to play ahead of him in the lineup -
Jeff Skinner and Victor Arvidsson.
Still, the Edmonton Oilers led by Connor McDavid and
Leon Draisaitl will be just fine without both Broberg and Holloway, maybe, they even are motivated to stick it back to them.
