Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner was far from the only reason Edmonton was blown out by Buffalo last night, but Sabres commentators think he made all the difference.

Skinner has had some decent showings recently, but consistency has been his big issue. However, he finished last night with an .852 save percentage, dropping his season below NHL average to .889.

Sabres commentators mock Stuart Skinner, name goaltending as difference in last night's game

Oilers goaltending is a subject of hot debate for fans in Edmonton, but apparently it's a lot clearer to an outside observer.
Both Sabres play by play commentators joked when the Oilers pulled their goalie, it didn't make much of a difference.
On the other end of the ice, battled in the final frame and finished the game with 32 saves on 33 shots. He fought through an Oilers surge at the end to make some tough stops, finishing with 32 saves on 33 shots.
Frankly, Ellis found a way to make some of the stops that Skinner routinely can't. Ellis fought through traffic to find pucks and controlled his rebounds - two things that Skinner was beat on last night.
It's getting frustrating that seemingly every other team in the NHL had more solid goaltending than the Oilers, and every team in the NHL knows it.

What can you really say? The Sabres commentators are right. The Oilers goaltending is among the worst in the NHL and it needs to be addressed to give the team a chance at a Stanley Cup. It just so happens that Colten Ellis was claimed on waivers by Buffalo this year - but the Oilers were confident with the Skinner Pickard tandem.
It's an extremely low point to this season that the Sabres commentators would be able to accurately dunk on the Oilers. Things need to change in Edmonton fast, or they'll be on track for a shocking lost season in the prime McDavid era.
