Reports out of the NHL show that the Edmonton Oilers are on a short list to acquire twenty-four year old RW Yegor Chinakhov from Columbus.
The disgruntled forward had demanded a trade because of diminishing ice-time, but had changed his mind and showed for Blue Jackets' training camp.
Forward unhappy yet again with Columbus, demands trade to Edmonton, again
Last month, a report was posted on social media confirming that Yegor was in fact unhappy playing in Columbus, and the teams to which he'd requested a trade:
Yegor Chinakhov:
I had some misunderstandings with the coach during the season. Now I would be glad to have a trade. I would like to move to a different location.
Will I return to Russia? As long as I can play in the NHL, I will keep developing here

BREAKING: per multiple sources, Yegor Chinakhov, 24 year old #CBJ Russian right wing and on a expiring $2.1m deal, has finalized trade demands, and #BlackHawks & #LetsGoOilers are in talking stages.

Chinakhov, at 24 years old, has shown flashes of offensive skill, particularly his shooting ability and speed. He had a career-high 29 points (16G and 13A) in 53 games during the 2023-24 season, and 15 points in 30 games last year.
His current contract has a $2.1M cap hit, though with Chinakhov requesting a trade out of Columbus could potentially lower his asking price.
However, given the recent moves Edmonton has made, it would appear that the team is looking for players that will have a greater impact on the club than what Yegor can provide.
