It seems that Montreal's rookie sensation Ivan Demidov was contributing to his team's victory in more ways than just racking-up points last night against the Canucks.
Word-battle erupts between teams' benches
«Keep running you mouth and ill take you right out of the (expletive) Olympics»
Amidst the crowd's cheering you could hear these words erupting from the Canucks' bench, directed at none other than Ivan Demidov, who recorded three points in the Habs' 4-3 win versus the Canucks.
No doubt he was getting under the opposition players' skin by playing his usual stingy game with the puck, which Vancouver had trouble removing from him.
The context of the comment directed at Demidov is unclear, however, though what is certain is that the young Russian star was effective on the ice and getting attention as a result, even when he wasn't.
Demidov was all over stat sheet last night, registering 1G and 2A. His first assist was a gorgeous cross-ice feed on the powerplay, which
Nick Suzuki made no mistake of putting in the net.
His second assist also came on the power play, while his goal was five-on-five, the team's fourth and game-winning goal.
According to NHL odds and recent analysis, Montreal Canadiens forward Ivan Demidov is the early favorite to win the Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL's Rookie of the Year for the 2025-26 season.
The nineteen year old has scored 2G and 7A in 10 games, and appears to be a sure-fire NHL star.
Ivan Demidov was selected by the Montreal Canadiens with the fifth overall draft pick in the first round of the 2024 NHL Draft. During the 2024-25 season, Demidov stayed in Russia and posted 19 goals and 30 assists in 65 regular season games for SKA St. Petersburg, as well as playing 2 games with Montreal (1G, 1A).
