After a promising preseason with numbers that have not been seen since his stint with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Campbell has been dismal at best, and it continues to worsen with every game.
Tonight, when the Condors faced the Coachella Valley Firebirds, Campbell allowed three goals in the first 28 minutes of the game.
It seemed no matter what he did, he appeared helpless in the net and just could not catch a break let alone the puck. At 8:51 in the second period he allowed a fourth goal in which Condors head coach Colin Chaulk had seen enough and decided to pull Campbell.
General manager Ken Holland will need to figure out a way to get out from under this albatross of a contract. It's clear that he cannot restore his career as the starting goaltender in the NHL let alone the AHL.
It's also possible that Campbell will need to take a step back from the game and seek help to restore his confidence and his general abilities as a goalie.
With performances like this and no signs of improvement the alarm bell should be going off with Oilers management to find another goaltender as soon as possible.
