It's standard practice for NHL organisations to try to keep peace between teammates as the hope is to keep everything in the dressing room and not to leak out to the media.
In this new age of technology and players willing to speak to the media freely, things can get out of hand and that was the case after the Colorado Avalanche beat the Calgary Flames in an intense 6-5 win.
News broke recently that a Finnish newspaper published a story about avalanche forward Artturi Lehkonen's father Ismo, who gave a scathing review about the avalanche and fellow Finnish NHL superstar Mikko Rantanen.
Rantanen took full exception to what Ismo had to say and retaliated in a post game scrum.
Those comments certainly stirred something in Rantanen as he went on to get a goal and two assists for three points along with 26 minutes in ice time. His overall play during this season has not been poor as he's played 28 games, has scored 13 goals with 21 assists for 34 points and is a +1.
It's widely expected the avalanche will try to keep a lid on this and hope this will blow over as the season wears on.
