The Ottawa Senators lost their beloved Owner last season when the sad news that Senators Owner Eugene Melnyk passed away back in March, on the 28th in 2022 at the age of 62.

It was very tough for Senators fans and many worried that this could of been the beginning of the end for hockey in Ottawa. With the NHL being more pro American, there's cause for concern with the Senators up for sale in search for a new owner, that it's a possibility that someone purchasing the Senators could very well relocate them to an American city such as Houston.

However this recent news appears to be good for the Senators, as NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman revealed:

"There are believed to be 15 people in the running to purchase the Senators. Bettman would also make it clear whoever buys the Senators are doing it to keep the team in Ottawa."

That's definitely reassuring. especially with Bettman being criticized for his pro-American favouritism.
