Elliotte Friedman recently revealed Edmonton Oilers general manager Ken Holland's trade deadline plans, and it appears he is working in the wise ways of an old-school general manager, waiting until last minute to strike a deal. Waiting until last minute to throw in an offer and or make a trade can be beneficial in multiple ways, one being a lot of players are cheaper on trade deadline days as there is only a small time-frame teams have to trade their trade assets away.

Elliotte Friedman revealed more information on this mornings 32 thoughts podcast, brought to you by Sportsnet:

Edmonton is dollar-in and dollar-out. That's not news. GM Ken Holland is prepared to wait to see the sellers sweat. He's been doing this since before cavemen invented fire, so he won't panic.

Look at how we've been preparing for big Oilers waivers news, and he's delayed almost a week. (The Lamoriello rule: «If you have time, use it.») I do think he's checked on Patrick Kane. They've looked into Erik Karlsson, although there is real scepticism San Jose would be willing to eat 40 per cent of that contract until it's over. Shayne Gostisbehere interests them, although there are other options.

He also commented on Holland's perspective on players with injuries, which we are aware Patrick Kane has one, so it's likely Holland makes a move for Patrick Kane:

Holland has said he's wary of players who tend to have injury issues, which is why I think he'd hesitate on Joel Edmundson. No doubt Edmundson would cherish that kind of a playoff opportunity, though.

DO YOU THINK KEN HOLLAND WILL MAKE A BLOCKBUSTER DEAL, OR MAKE NONE AT ALL?
