The Edmonton Oilers are in need to clear $1.3 million in cap space to activate forward Yamamoto, whether that is by waiving or trading a player. Today, the Oilers have not placed a forward on waivers, leaving many in question as to if a trade is taking place. Jim Matheson, a long-time writer and reporter for the Edmonton Oilers would reveal that Jesse Puljujarvi is not on the ice for practice, and is also not on waivers.
Meaning a trade is likely about to be finalized... but, we've been told a trade is near for several months now. Will Ken Holland finally act? Or will he continue working in snail mode until the NHL trade deadline...
Or, a ridiculous move could happen, which would leave many fans unhappy. Due to Ken Holland's cap issue, if the Oilers don't make a trade or place a player on waivers they may look at one of the Oilers defensemen's be placed on waivers, such as Brober, Desharnais or forward Dylan Holloway to make move for Yamamoto.
Take a look at Jay Woodcroft's morning interview, when asked why Jesse Puljujarvi was not on the ice, Woodcroft has a smile. A smile that seemed as if he couldn't say anything yet, take a look for yourself:
