Rick Tocchet confirms it for Casey DeSmith and Thatcher Demko

After the Canucks VS. Predators first playoff game, it's almost like everything fell apart for the Canucks and their fans. The announcement was made that Thatcher Demko would not be in his starter crease for game two and the whole Canucks nation was in shambles when he was made questionnable for the remainder of the series.

Through the end of the season, Tocchet alternated between the veteran Casey DeSmith and the rookie, Arturs Silovs. Silovs played well enough that some people have begun to wonder if he should have been Demko's backup heading into the playoffs.

Now that it seems clear that Demko won't be back for a while, Tocchet will be facing the dilemma of starting either his experienced backup or his up and coming, most likely to be the future starter, rookie.

Tocchet finally made the call, as the Canucks landed in Nashville. Not only did he confirm that Demko would be out for a second straight venue, he also confirmed that Casey DeSmith would be between the pipes:




The Canucks and the Predators are tied at one. Thatcher Demko was excellent in the first outing, and with Dakota Joshua's outstanding performance, he led them to victory. Juuse Saros took over in the second matchup and stopped 94.4% of the pucks sent to his net. Game three will have an immense impact on the direction this series takes.
