NHL issues a statement on Canucks forward Pius Suter
The Canucks were in Nashville in hopes of sealing this first-round series. Per usual, the Canucks and the Predators shared a tightly disputed game of chess. The game's first goal came very late in the third period at the hand of no other than Pius Suter. The Swiss had many opportunities to give his team the lead, but the one that gave the team win ended up being the one they needed:

Moments after Suter played hero in Nashville, the NHL issued a statement acknowledging not only his prowess but the Canucks franchise record he had just beaten. With his game-winning goal, Suter became the author of the latest go-ahead goal in playoff-clinching scenarios. With his goal, he beat a 14-year-old record that belonged to the great Daniel Sedin:

Lots of fans were holding Suter to a higher standard for the many opportunities he failed to capitalize on, but when the moment came, Suter showed up and got the job done. With this win, the Canucks will be headed to the Divisional Finals where a meeting with the Edmonton Oilers awaits them.
