News reports broke today that general manager Pat Verbeek of the Anaheim Ducks is preparing to trade star forward Trevor Zegras.

Pierre LeBrun of the Athletic release the news as Verbeek is looking for experience and veteran presence for his roster. Zegras was involved with several trade rumors throughout the season as he worked through a major injury that kept him out for the bulk of the year.

"I'd like to add a couple more veteran pieces to the group," Verbeek said. "I'd like to find a top-six winger, and I'd like to find a top-four defenseman. You know, 31 other teams could say the same thing, right?"

"I'm trying to make our lineup deeper while having the younger kids gain more experience, learn from veteran players, and not have to bear the burden of producing offensively."

The 23-year-old center only played 31 games this year managing to score six goals with 9 assists for 15 points.

He also holds a cap hit of $5.75 million per season for the next two seasons and it's likely several teams will want his services. Many pundits across the league felt Zegras was the new face of the Anaheim Ducks but it appears they're heading a different direction.

For a deal like this to be crafted it's likely it will be held at the draft or during the summer as Verbeek will look for as many suitors as possible to acquire this talent. Verbeek is also looking to maximize his return as moving a player of his caliber is certainly a hard move to explain to fans.
