As media availability began in Florida today ahead of the Cup Final, a frenzy swarmed Connor McDavid, waiting to hear his thoughts on the Stanley Cup Final.
Hilariously, among the media storm, McDavid opened by saying he's excited for the madness of the Cup Final to be over.
Even before he arrived, McDavid's media area was packed with reporters. Maybe he's just not a big fan of the media mob in the finals.
McDavid clearly isn't one to love interacting with the media, but the attention the Oilers are getting in the Stanley Cup Final is next level. Now close to the final point of the journey to creating his legacy in Edmonton, McDavid is ready to simply take care of business in the Final, and get it over with.
Oilers speak with great excitement before Stanley Cup Final
Across the board, every Oilers teammate showed pure excitement to be on the biggest stage. Leon Draisaitl, Evander Kane, Stuart Skinner, and Zach Hyman all spoke with intense enthusiasm to get into the most important games of their careers.
Whether the team is revelling in the moment, or trying to downplay it and focus on business like McDavid, it truly doesn't matter. The Oilers have reached a level of maturity and consistency under coach Knoblauch where they are extremely efficient in knowing what will help them. If McDavid just can't wait for it to be over, he's likely just imagining himself with the Stanley Cup right now.
