According to a recent report from Fox News, Bissonette was approached inside the restaurant by 6 men, and despite his attempts to calm the situation, it escalated to physical conflict.
All six men involved have been arrested by Scottsdale Police, and are accused of assault and disorderly conduct.
Paul Bissonnette himself sustained some injuries in the assault, but Police only confirmed that they are not life-threatening, and Bissonnette was taken to hospital for evaluation.
The good sign for Bissonnette is that he doesn't seem to be slowing down on social media, but instead is promoting his Spittin' Chiclets Podcast interview with Jeff Marek and Bruce Boudreau releasing tomorrow. Before that though, Bissonnette had been radio silent on social media for two full days.
Now 39 years old, Bissonnette last played professionally in the AHL in the 2015-16 season. Bissonnette played 202 NHL games between 2008 and 2014 with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Phoenix Coyotes, earning a reputation as one of the NHL's toughest enforcers.
It's shocking that anyone would go up to Paul Biznasty Bissonnette to start a fight, and it must have been terrifying with six different people, but it seems like he was able to handle himself, thankfully.
Above all, hopefully Bissonnette is able to recover quickly, and get back to his busy schedule working as one of the most popular figures in hockey media. This is shocking and brutal news to any fans of his.
