Wayne Gretzky had stiff words for a Maple Leafs employee
In a recent interview with the Spittin' Chiclets Podcast, Wayne Gretzky told a story about a brief interaction he had with a Maple Leafs security employee.
With the LA Kings in 1993, Gretzky was heading to the ice and preparing for game 7 of their playoff series against Toronto. Heading down in the elevator while at the rink, a security guard worried aloud to Gretzky that his job would be difficult tonight with a Leafs win and a rowdy crowd. Instead, Gretzky dropped a cold quote, and told him the crowd would be silenced that night.
Of course, the Great One went on to have a four-point night, beating the Leaf 5-4, and eliminating them from the playoffs.
It's an awesome story about the confidence that Gretzky possessed in his prime, and the star power that he brought to every meaningful game.
