REPORT: Oilers Eyeing Down One of The Best Veteran Defensemen on The Trade Market

With the Edmonton Oilers looking to improve their odds of returning to the Stanley Cup playoffs with some trades, one position Oilers fans have been screaming to get improved other then goaltending is the Oilers defence core.

Oilers General Manager Ken Holland has been busy trying to find a taker for forward Jesse Puljujärvi, but there's been no takers. He has also been looking to add to the Oilers defence and Holland has his eyes set on a huge impact player.


That player Holland seems to want to come in and help Darnell Nurse is Nashville Predators Mattias Ekholm. The 32 year-old is a legitimate top 4 defenceman and would definitely help out the Oilers goaltenders. The only issue is Ekholm just signed a new 4 year $25 million dollar contract meaning the Predators would have to retain a lot of that salary.
