Proposal for a major trade between the Edmonton Oilers and the Montreal Canadiens raised by TSN journalist Ryan Rishaug

In the case of interesting trade rumors involving our Montreal Canadiens, TSN reporter Ryan Rishaug tackled the case Joel Edmundson, along with Arpon Basu, and he raised an interesting proposal.

According to him, the Edmonton Oilers would be potentially interested in acquiring Edmundson, and that makes perfect sense. He's exactly the kind of player GM Ken Holland wants to acquire before the trade deadline.

A concrete proposal?

Basu mentioned that Kent Hughes would be asking for a 2023 first-round pick, or a former first-round pick, and Rishaug brought up an interesting name: Xavier Bourgault. (a player who has previously been linked to the Habs)

He also talked about adding young Jesse Puljujarvi to make it work at the salary cap, and what's more, he says the Finn would be a great project for the invigorated CH development team. Martin St-Louis could possibly unlock his great potential.

In light of this discussion, see their trade proposal:

IN MONTREAL - Xavier Bourgault + Jesse Puljujarvi + possibly a choice

IN EDMONTON - Joel Edmundson

Other option:

IN MONTREAL - 2023 First Round Pick

IN EDMONTON - Joel Edmundson

Would you? Which of the following options would you prefer?

Puljujarvi, 24, 6-foot-4, is a winger who was drafted 4th overall in 2016. He has six points this season and 36 points in 65 games last season.

Bourgault, 20, was drafted 22nd overall in 2021. He has 11 points, 7 goals, in 20 AHL games this season. (75 points and 36 goals, in 43 games, in the QMJHL last season)
