Twitter was a legacy application that provided people with a different way of communicating knowledge, news, and quick tips, along with providing reporters and new organizations with another means of reaching people.

Sports players are on Twitter as well, to engage with fans, and media personalities and to highlight their own personalities if you're someone like P.K. Subban or Brad Marchand. One thing you could trust is the checkmark to verify that, that is the real person you're talking to.

However, it all ended today:

As of 4/20( cringe, Elon) all legacy checkmarks( i.e. those who didn't pay for them) have been removed as all that is left are Twitter Blue accounts that are shelling out $96 dollars a year to maintain their privileges.

It appears Connor McDavid was a casualty of the latest policy of Elon Musk's as his account has lost his blue check.

Along with this happening, Leon Draisaitl is still suspended from Twitter, and things continue to be chaotic and without reason on Twitter.

Elon Musk may think he's smart, but It's only a matter of time before multiple imposters arise, as has already happened with Elliott Friedman and Meghan Chayka.

Twitter has been operating under a consent decree dating back to 2011 by the FTC.
