Moments ago, news broke that the legendary Edmonton sports broadcaster John Short has passed away at the age of 86. His son, Martin Short, shared the news on Facebook earlier today.

Short was known for his weekly columns Edmonton Sun about the Oilers, as well as his work with the Canadian Press, numerous talk shows, and even working for the Oilers as their Public Relations Director.
Current Oilers writer Mark Spector offered his condolences and his admiration for Short, honouring his presence and accomplishments in the media, as well as his relationships with all other media members.
It's tragic news, and sports fans in Edmonton will feel his loss. We're all thinking of him and his family at this time.
