Dave Nonis will be joining the Calgary Flames
The Calgary Flames made another announcement this week, revealing that Craig Conroy is their new GM. Alongside this news, they also introduced Dave Nonis as their senior management hire, a former assistant GM for the Anaheim Ducks under Bob Murray.
Nonis previously served as a team consultant and scout for Anaheim for four seasons, followed by three seasons as AGM.
However, some might find the decision peculiar as both Nonis and Darryl Sutter were hired from the same team, giving off the impression of a "good old boys club" mentality.
It's difficult to ascertain whether this hire will have positive or negative effects, especially considering Sutter took over Nonis' previous position after his promotion to AGM.
With Craig Conroy potentially facing limitations, it may take some time before the Battle of Alberta becomes competitive once more.
