BREAKING: Elliotte Friedman Provides a Major Update With Evan Bouchard's Contract Talks
Now that the Edmonton Oilers have settled Ryan McLeod's contract for the upcoming season, the focus shifts to Evan Bouchard's deal.
NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman reveals that Bouchard's contract should be finalized soon, likely a two-year deal in the $4 million range.
"I think the next one we could see among the RFAs is Evan Bouchard from the Oilers... Jeff Jackson (just named the new Oilers CEO of Hockey Operations) was Evan Bouchard's agent... And I think that's gonna get done for two years in the $4 million (AAV) range."
The Oilers had to wait on McLeod's contract to determine their wiggle room for Bouchard's deal. Despite his breakout performance, Bouchard didn't have much leverage in negotiations, resulting in a two-year bridge deal.
With Bouchard's excellent playoff performance and power play skills, an official announcement on his new contract is expected soon.
