Leafs' Domi swings wild uppercuts defending Auston Matthews in fight

Moments ago in tonight's game between the Leafs and Devils, Leafs forward Max Domi showed no hesitation when he had to defend Auston Matthews with a fight.

Devils' defenceman Simon Nemec was battling along the boards with Matthews for a loose puck, and started throwing some extra shoves. Domi saw this happening, and immediately went after Nemec and didn't give him a choice in the fight. Nemec barely got his gloves off before Domi began feeding him right uppercuts.




For the Leafs, this is part of a trend the team has emphasized all year of playing with toughness throughout the lineup. Max Domi has become an incredible fight with the team over the last few months and has been elevated to the first line, but he's still willing to drop the gloves to keep players off the Leafs superstar Matthews. This fight isn't just a message to the New Jersey Devils, but also to their own team and their future playoff opponents.
