Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes has officially become the NHL's point leader among defensemen with the conclusion of the 2023-24 regular season. With a point in their final game, a 4-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets, Hughes finishes the season with an impressive 92 points.

His point total placed him two ahead of second-place Cale Makar, who recorded his 90th point in the Avalanche's final game, a 5-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers.

Hughes finished 15th in scoring among all skaters this season, while Makar finished tied for 16th. Only J.T. Miller (103) had more points on the Canucks this season. Hughes was also 4th among all skaters in assists (75), and plus/minus (plus-38). He will surely be in contention for his first career Norris Trophy as the NHL's top defenseman.

Other notable defensemen producing similarly to Hughes and Makar were Nashville's Roman Josi and Edmonton's Evan Bouchard, both with 82 points.
