Quinn Hughes earns unique nickname from teammates
While hockey players aren't always known for their creativity in this department, Quinn Hughes has earned an interesting nickname from his Canucks teammates.
Elliotte Friedman said in his 32 Thoughts blog that while he can't name who, he's heard someone in the organization has given Hughes the moniker "The Jewel Thief".An unusual nickname compared to the typical Millzy, Petey etc., but Hughes certainly seems to fit the description.
A jewel thief works on the safe, hears the sirens coming, but instead of rushing to escape, keeps his eyes on the prize. They trust their skills so much they won't give up, knowing they will be successful.
It's not clear where Friedman heard the name, but he likes the nickname fit for Hughes as he's a player who isn't afraid to to pull off the risky play and trusts his skill at all times.
The Canucks will rely on him for that as they kick off their series against the Predators on Sunday.
