LATEST | Insider provides major update on Thatcher Demko's injury

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko suffered a knee injury in the team's 5-0 shutout win over the Winnipeg Jets on Mar. 9. He has not played since, with initial reports expecting him to be sidelined for a couple of weeks.

The San Diego native has been stellar for the Canucks this season, sporting a 34-13-2 record to go along with a marvelous 2.47 GAA and a .917 save percentage. His win total puts him second in the entire NHL, one behind Alexandar Georgiev of the Colorado Avalanche.

As the Canucks gear towards the playoffs, sporting a 44-18-8 record, the team certainly in no rush to bring back their star goaltender and further risk injury. As Elliotte Friedman reports, he isn't expecting to see the 28-year-old back in action for a continued while:

Being the top seed in the Western Conference at 96 points, Demko and the Canucks are currently slated to play the Vegas Golden Knights in the first round of the playoffs. The Knights occupy the final Wild Card spot with 81 points.
