Full schedule and official start date for Canucks' 2nd round released

The NHL has released their schedule for the upcoming round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and the Vancouver Canucks will begin their second round versus Edmonton on Wednesday, May 8. With Game 1 taking place at 7 PM PT at Rogers Arena, it will mark the first time the Canucks have played past the first round in four years and extends even longer for a non-COVID-shortened season.

Quinn Hughes and the Canucks will face off against Connor McDavid's Edmonton Oilers for an all-Canadian rivalry that will undoubtedly prove to be an exciting series. The last time either of these teams captured the Stanley Cup was the Oilers' victory in 1990, and Canada hasn't seen a Cup winner since the 1993 Montreal Canadiens — 31 years ago.

Vancouver enters the series after besting the Nashville Predators in six games on the heels of rookie Artur Silovs' two wins, including a series-clinching shutout. The team expects Thatcher Demko to return shortly should they extend their postseason accordingly.

With this series playing every other day beginning on May 8, they will potentially receive one Saturday night affair (May 18), which would be Game 6, if necessary, at the similarly named Rogers Place in Edmonton. The two teams are the only remaining Canadian teams in playoff contention after the Toronto Maple Leafs and Winnipeg Jets bowed out in their respective series.
