There was great fanfare after former Flames defenseman Nikita Zadorov gave his notice to the Flames that he wanted to be traded from the team a few weeks ago.

This, along with the ongoing firestorm that has hit the Flames organization since the departures of Matthew Tkachuk and Johnny Gaudreau has kept the team in turmoil.

Zadorov continued to stoke the rumour mill which made many Leafs fans happy when he announced he would be welcome to go to the Maple Leafs organization.

That move, however, did not happen, and he was traded to the Vancouver Canucks for two draft picks. Sportsnet columnist Eric Francis tweeted it out comments that Zadorov made after the trade was completed and he was brutally honest with the reporters and why he wanted to leave Calgary.

In a very stoic way, he also felt the handling of the trade request was perfectly fine in his eyes as he got what he wanted and was moved to the flying Canucks. The 28-year-old defenseman is still waiting for his new deal and currently holds a cap hit of $3.75 million.

Time will tell if the Canucks pony up the money and grant him his second wish.
