The Penguins season was pegged to be a new era under general manager and president Kyle Dubas. After the bizarre ending of his tenure with the Maple Leafs, Dubas quickly took over the role in Pittsburgh in hopes of restoring them to glory on the fly.
With the addition of Erik Karlsson, and the same core that has led the Penguins for some time the team has been at .500 for many weeks. After losing to the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-1, Captain Sidney Crosby had seen enough and decided to hold a team only meeting after their dismal performance.
Several teams have tried this way to get players to buy into the system after several games of terrible results. With their leaky defence and subpar goaltending, it's unlikely the Penguins will change overnight and become the Stanley Cup contenders they were pegged to be in the summer.
Time will tell if this meeting has any impact on their results going forward.
