Evander Kane plays in Edmonton beer league game, won't be moving to Vancouver full time
According to reports from the 2 Mutts Hockey Podcast,
Evander Kane was in Edmonton last night to play for an adult league team that he's actually played with before.
Some video was recorded from the low-key event in a local arena, showing Kane wearing the name «FA FO» on his jersey. It must've been a great experience for the guys on the ice.
As Kane also wants to remain in Edmonton for the foreseeable future, the 2 Mutts Podcast reports that Kane would be open to returning to the Oilers when he becomes a free agent after the 2025-26 season.
Kane spent 4 seasons with the Oilers between 2021 and 2025. At his best he can be an effective power forward with scoring ability, although there are defensive concerns with his game. Last year, Kane missed the entire regular season with injury before returning in the playoffs.
The Edmonton Oilers had to trade Evander Kane to clear up salary cap space this offseason for
Leon Draisaitl and
Evan Bouchard's contract extensions. If he'd be willing to return to the team on a cheaper contract, the Oilers may welcome back his style of play in a bottom six role.
For now though, Oilers fans will wish Kane well for his efforts over the last 4 years, and will appreciate him calling the city of Edmonton his home.
