Prominent former Oiler says team can't win Stanley Cup without one crucial trade

On an episode of the Spittin' Chiclets podcast, guest and former NHLer Ryan Whitney spoke bluntly about Stuart Skinner and the Oilers' chances of winning a Stanley Cup.
Former-player adamant Oilers will win a Stanley Cup
At one point in the podcast, Ryan Whitney said with some assurance, 'They're winning a Stanley Cup, this year, or next year. I'm telling you now!'
Of course, many across the NHL believe the Oilers are, in fact, good enough to contend for a Cup, this year, and for several years beyond. However, the peculiar thing about Ryan Whitney's initial comments, is that later in the podcast he voiced his caveat:
Everyone's there, everyone's signed, and all it is about is getting a goalie.
I'm not going to sit here at any point throughout this year and say that they can win with Stuart Skinner. I've done that.
I think they could get to the Stanley Cup Final with him again, I don't think that you can win a Stanley Cup with him as your goalie.
- Ryan Whitney
That the Oilers blew a 3-0 lead against the Flames in the season- and home-opener only gave weight to the general opinion that Stuart Skinner isn't capable of taking the team to the promised land.
Calgary's third- and game-tying goal, in particular, left Oilers fans shouting, 'get a goalie', a scene not uncommon at Rogers Place, and one which sums up the fanbase's sentiment around the goalie.
In fact, many of them took to social media:
Sadly with Skinner's history, bad-luck goals happen to him often. I do wonder if the Oilers will be goalie shopping by November? Let's hope not! But maybe a change would be good for Skinner & the Oilers? The NY road trip will say a lot IMO time will tell. - Trent Wilhuak via X
I am definitely NOT a Skinner hater. But last night's game was very, VERY disappointing. That was two points that should have been in the bag. Overtime NEVER should have happened.
- Craig Hall via Facebook
It doesn't help Skinner's case that he was so nonchalant about his performance at his post-game interview, refusing to take any ownership for the bad goals-against:
«I won't be thinking about it, no,» Skinner said, per Sportsnet's Mark Spector. «It happens. It's probably the easiest fix I'll make this year. A quick decision, throw it in the corner, that's that.»
