As the Oilers and Oilers fans continue to enjoy their game 6 victory, Oilers star forward Zach Hyman passed Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin for most goals in a single post season run in the salary cap era.
Hyman has seen his career take off since joining the Oilers after spending several seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Prior to the Oilers, the most goals in the season he could get was 21 and during this season through 80 games he managed to score 54 goals.
It was also revealed that he has now scored more goals than his former linemate in Toronto Auston Matthews. With combining the regular season and the playoffs he is now scored 70 goals compared to Matthews at 69.
One of the best assets of Hyman is his cap hit. After signing a 7 year $38.5 million deal he holds a cap of $5.5 million which is viewed as one of the best contracts ever signed for the output he gives.
It seems that as he ages, he improves his play and with the Oilers storming back into the Stanley Cup finals and forcing the Game 7 it remains to be seen on how Hyman and the rest of the team will fare.
This season has been an incredible story for the Oilers considering where they started and how this may end.
