Oilers set to scrap current alternate jersey, tease future replacement

The Oilers have had many different renditions of their current jerseys and have always looked to keep things fresh, season to season. Whether it's to give fans tons of fresh designs, or just to make money from cycling out jerseys often, it looks like they'll be changing the jerseys again next season.

The Oilers opt to keep their home and away jerseys the same and ditch out their alternate jerseys for the sake of bringing in new ones. Their current alternate jerseys are the navy blue home jerseys, which are definitely a fan favourite. It's sad to see them go, but Ice District is already teasing what the will be with the first photos of the next Oilers jersey.

With this tweet, it seems like the Oilers are hinting at something big for the leaked jerseys. In playoffs, every team is required to submit one home and one away jersey that they must use for each subsequent game. It's unlikely that the Oilers would switch it up and run these jerseys, as they have never been game worn before and swapping jerseys for the playoffs would not be a popular move.

That means these jerseys are more than likely their alternate jerseys for the next season, which is an interesting decision. The jerseys still rock the navy blue colour, but seem to lack any orange on them. They also include the reverse retro logo on them, which will be a bonus for some fans and a drawback for others. No matter which position you take, it's always exciting to add a new set of jerseys to the team.
