According to reports, the Oilers should send Ike Howard back to Bakersfield and call-up the bigger and more aggressive-minded Roby Jarventie.

Oilers' forward prospect potential bottom-6 answer

Roby Jarventie is a skilled, offensive forward known for his size, elite shooting mechanics, and playmaking ability, as per his Hockeydb scouting report.
Drafted 33rd overall in 2020 by the Ottawa Senators, he was traded to Edmonton for first-rounder Xavier Bourgault and fourth-rounder Jake Chiasson Lewandowski.
Bruce Curlock of Oilersnation ranked Roby as the number-3 prospect in Edmonton's system last summer, and a bottom-6 option.
Oilers' coach Knoblauch has systematically turned to the smallish prospects as call-ups this year, with the same results, whether it's Howard, Hutson, or Savoie.
Many analysts are reporting it may be time for the head coach to change his strategy and go with the Jarventie, who may just be a better fit and is closer to what the Oilers need on the third line.
They may not be wrong, judging from the bottom-6 lack of physicality and production.
In fact, analyst Jason Gregor is surprised that Roby Jarventie hasn't been called up yet, given his steady play in the AHL.
Roby has recorded 12G and 24 points over 34 games played. He continues to be a dual-threat offensive player, projected to be a player Edmonton can count on for a bottom-6 role.
Oilers signed Jarventie to a one-year, two-way deal today. He has also signed a contract in Finland in March, though only as a back-up in the event he didn't work out in North America.
So far, I'd say his experience has been a positive one and could very well play in Edmonton soon if he continues to develop at his current pace.
There is the risk of Edmonton losing him to waivers, given he's exceeded the four years of waiver-eligibility in the AHL.
It's more likely he get his chance next fall out of training camp. In the meantime, he could be a viable call-up in the event of injury or for depth going into the post-season.
