The Edmonton Oilers are already facing some goaltending questions at the start of the season, but also have a wild card in Connor Ingram.
Oilers insiders reveal when team expects to call up Connor Ingram
The Oilers made a great trade for Connor Ingram, a goaltender who's proven capable of being an NHL starter, but it will be a while before Edmonton fans see him.
Ingram is coming off a tough season where he lost his mother to cancer, and entered the Player Assistance program afterwards for mental health. He only played 22 games with Utah last season, and posted a brutal .882 save percentage.
In a recent interview, Oilers AGM Keith Gretzky revealed that the team will be aiming to get Ingram into starts early and often in the AHL in the next few weeks to get back up to speed.
The AHL schedule is light on games early in the year, so Game 2 is next weekend. At a guess, I would say any recall of Ingram happens after he has clearly established himself as an option (say 10 games).

When Connor Ingram was at his best, he posted a .907 save percentage on a leaky Arizona Coyotes team. He has the potential to become the number 1 starter in Edmonton, and hopefully they can get him ready and up as soon as possible.
