Oilers front office staff spotted in Toronto suggesting incoming trade
As the trade deadline quickly approaches, NHL teams are sending out scouts to gather information before they make their moves. Last night, the Oilers had several scouts in Toronto to watch the Leafs take on the Anaheim Ducks, as well as at the game between San Jose and Columbus.
The Oilers have been heavily linked to some players mostly from the Anaheim Ducks and Columbus Blue Jackets. The Ducks have numerous forwards available for bottom six forwards, and even Frank Vatrano for the top six. Columbus could be a potential destination to offload Jack Campbell and add a bottom six winger. The San Jose Sharks have Anthony Duclair available, who could be an incredible offensive addition for any team.
As the NHL approaches the trade deadline, it becomes more and more interesting to track which teams are heavily scouting each other, as it's always an indication of trades that are in the works. Hopefully the Oilers scouting department nails their evaluation of their trade targets, and they can add a player that has similar impact as to how Ekholm lifted the team to new heights.
