Oilers fans fed up with massive increase in playoff ticket prices

The Edmonton Oilers are quickly becoming one of the highest generating revenue teams in the NHL, largely because of their passionate fans. Now however, the fans are being stretched thin.

Playoff tickets are a prime method for the Oilers organization to make some extra coin with bonus home games, and this year they've decided to really cash in. The minimum price of entry for round one will be near $300, and if the Oilers reach the Cup Final, the lowest price per game is set at a whopping $700!

This season Oilers fans have already seen an 11% increase in seasons ticket prices, and now they'll see a 50% increase in playoff ticket prices across the board - and this is before any sort of resale or scalpers. It's a very aggressive increase in prices, and Oilers fans took to social media to voice their concerns.

It entirely sucks for the fans that ownership has to raise ticket prices so much, but it's also what's expected when the Oilers are reaching their peak over the last few decades, and are being led by the greatest player in the league into the playoffs. Fans can only hope that they can attend a game or two, but at least watch the Oilers reward them with a Stanley Cup.
