With the recent stagnation of any news of Guentzel to the Oilers, it seems like the Oilers may want to explore other possible top 6 options. One who has been explored as a possible alternative for the Oilers has been Pavel Buchnevich, and the fit seems to make a lot of sense.

The Blues seem to be shopping Buchnevich pretty heavily and he only comes with a 5.8M price tag until next year. Buchnevich is a very strong two-way forward, and would add both a scoring touch and defensive responsibility on the wing for the Oilers.
Buchnevich would probably fetch at least one first round pick, good prospect and a mid pick or mid prospect. This is a high price, but Buchnevich could be the kind of player needed to push the Oilers over the hump. If they decide that Buchnevich is a better value than anyone else on the market, they could pull the trigger with St. Louis for two cheap years of a fantastic player. He would be a great addition on the second line, and can help bolster both special teams as well.
