Leon Draisaitl combines with NHLPA to help minor hockey program

Oilers' star Leon Draisaitl and NHLPA's Goals and Dreams have donated 58 full-sets of equipment to a minor hockey program in Germany.
The donation of hockey equipment will be completed over two years to Kolner Haie Youth Team in Cologne, 29 sets in 2025-26 and 29 for the 2026-27 minor hockey season.

I hope this equipment contribution with NHLPA Goals & Dreams to the Junghaie helps the next generation fall in love with the game and build a strong future for our sport.»

Growing up, Leon played six-plus years in Cologne, Germany. To return where he began playing the game he loves, and in which he excels, is a rewarding experience; to give back, even more so.

"We have of course followed his great development intensively over the years and are very grateful to him and the NHLPA for this generous donation to our junior department. The children had a wonderful day that they will certainly not forget in a hurry,»
Draisaitl, in addition to winning may trophies and awards, like the Rocket Richard, Hart, Art Ross, and Ted Lindsay, was also named Germany's Sportsman of the Year in 2020, the first ice-hockey player to do so.
The youth foundation of the Kolner Junghaie is home to the only minor hockey program in Cologne, Germany, for ages 4-20.
Worthy of note is the fact that, over the last three years, NHLPA Goals & Dreams has donated more than 50 sets of equipment to Hockey is Diversity in Germany, an international non-profit network of ice hockey players in Berlin, committed to diversity as the basis for treating each other with respect.
Cudos to Leon Draisaitl and NHLPA's Goals and Dreams for helping where there is a need.
