In an interview with Ronnie Ronnkvist of HockeySvergie.se former-Oiler Victor Arvidsson spoke openly about what he believes went wrong with the Edmonton Oilers.

Swedish winger traded to Boston Bruins after only 1-year with Oilers

"I was a bit injured at the start, missing about 15 games,» Arvidsson said to Ronnie Ronnkvist. «My role on the team wasn't really what I had in mind, but it wasn't what Edmonton had envisioned either. It turned into kind of a trudging season for me, with less ice time and a reduced role.»

Victor Arvidsson had signed a 2-year contract with the Edmonton Oilers July 1, 2024 at a $4M cap hit, but was subsequently traded away to the Bruins to give Edmonton more cap-flexibility.

Yet, as much as the Oilers had need for more cap space, Arvidsson, also, was not adverse to the trade, and waived his NTC to make the move possible.

«We looked around a bit on the market, and I agreed with Edmonton that the best thing for me was to find something new that would be a better fit,» Arvidsson said to HockeySverige.se. «It ended with Boston being interested, and I think it's going to be really fun
Boston has always been a hardworking team. They're strong defensively. It's always been tough to come into that arena and play because Boston's fans are very passionate. The whole city is a great sports town. That's how I see it, and I want to come in there myself and add a little spice.»

In 67 games with the Oilers in 2024-26, Victor Arvidsson scored 15G and 12A, while skating an average of 15:00 TOI, and was part of Team Sweden at the 4 Nations Cup last season.
