The Edmonton Oilers organization is top notch for their interaction with their fanbase and their understanding of their values, which has been reflected in a recent story of a Calgary Flames fan touring the Oilers room.
Edmonton Oilers hold locker room tour, make one rule singling out Calgary Flames fan
Our group had a chance to tour the Oilers locker room. They made me remove my Flames jersey before I entered along with Jets and Leafs fans being allowed to enter the room. Kudos to the staff.
The Oilers allowed fans of other teams to enter without issue, but the staff treats the rivalry with Calgary with a level of full seriousness. The locker room should never be infiltrated by the logo of their biggest rival.
Fans loved the level of dedication the Oilers staff showed for the rivalry, commending them for keeping the spirit alive.
They made you remove your Flames jersey? That is some inner sanctum level ritual right there.
Can't disrespect the locker room.
That's incredible they made you remove your Flames gear. Thanks for sharing!
Some cool details were captured in the fan's pictures too, notably that McDavid, Arvidsson, and Ekholm's gear was mostly missing as they're at the 4 Nations Faceoff - and even that
Evander Kane's gear was there and ready to go.
At the end of the day, it's an incredible story of a Flames fan and the Oilers staff understanding the importance of their rivalry, and keeping the competitive nature alive at all times.
