It seems that top-Oilers' analyst Mark Spector is more than willing to bring back Warren Foegele as a bottom-six roster-fix.

Insiders across league in agreement

Of course, Spector is not the only analyst to suggest swapping Foegele and Mangiapane. Elliotte Friedman and David Pagnotta shared as much last week in their respective podcasts, including a quote from the Kings' GM himself:
“We got a lot of forwards obviously,” Ken Holland said. “Warren Foegele had a great year last year. He’s been out of the line-up a couple of nights, the last couple of games. Got to work the phones here… As we get near to the end of the Olympic break the phones will start humming again. So we’ll see if there’s a fit (Foegele for Mangiapane).”

For Edmonton, swapping-out Mangiapane to bring in Foegele could make sense. The salaries are almost equal, and Foegele is the type of player they want to add to their lineup: speed and effort with a little bit of skill and finishing ability.
Foegele is currently experiencing a significant slump in Los Angeles, making his trade-value lower than in previous years. It's why he's been a healthy scratch recently, and perhaps the reason Holland may be willing to trade the forward at such a low cost: a mid-to-late round draft pick if a direct player swap isn't finalized.
Warren is already familiar with Edmonton's core roster and head coach Kris Knoblauch, including the system he uses, cutting the adjustment period considerably, as only 24 games remain before the playoffs begin.
Both Mangiapane and Foegele have a year remaining on their respective deals.
In addition to Foegele, Oilers have also been linked to Toronto's center Nic Roy, who would play a similar role on the team's bottom-six.

Should Oilers trade Mangiapane for Foegele straight-up?
